BOSTON _ One day after being told he wasn't pitching well enough to be activated, and that the team wanted him to accept a 19-day option assignment to Pawtucket, the Red Sox reversed their field and restored Bryce Florie to Boston's active roster on Wednesday.
Florie replaced Pedro Martinez, who was put on the 15-day disabled list because of right shoulder problems.
The right-hander hadn't pitched in a big-league game since last Sept. 9, when a line drive off the bat of the Yankees' Ryan Thompson crashed into the right side of his face, fracturing Florie's cheekbone and right eye socket.
