Deion Sanders is getting a final chance to prove his baseball ability after signing a minor league contract yesterday with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Sanders' deal gives him a one-month window to play his way from Class AAA Syracuse onto the Blue Jays' roster. If he cannot do so by July 29, he will be required that day to report to the Washington Redskins' training camp in Carlisle, Pa.
The latter scenario appears likely. Although Sanders led the Class AAA International League in batting during a torrid stint this spring, he hit just .173 in 32 games for the Cincinnati Reds, earning a designation for assignment June 15 and an outright release Friday.
