Jun. 29--MOUNT HOLLY, N.C.--The 475 layoffs announced Wednesday at Freightliner LLC's Mount Holly plant might not be the last. A company spokesman hinted Thursday that more layoffs could be on the horizon.
"We're not prepared to say that this is the bottom of this market yet," said company spokesman Chris Brandt in Portland, Ore. "We cannot rule out further adjustments in the work force."
Freightliner, the leading producer of heavy trucks in North America, announced Wednesday that sluggish sales forced layoffs of 1,200 workers worldwide.
