Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair soon will sign a contract extension worth $47 million over six years.
A Titans spokesman said yesterday he could "confirm only that there's been progress and some details have been worked out." He said an official announcement might come by the end of the week.
McNair, 28, has played six NFL seasons, and led the Titans to the Super Bowl two seasons ago. Last year he completed 248 of 396 passes for 2,847 yards and 15 touchdowns. He rushed 71 times for 404 yards.
