Jun. 29--A revised merger agreement between Tyson Foods Inc. and IBP Inc. was approved by a Delaware judge on Wednesday, nearly two weeks after he ordered the companies to proceed with their original $4.7 billion deal.
The new agreement affects nearly 120,000 employees at the two companies, many of whom live in the Midlands. IBP is based in Dakota Dunes, S.D., employs 50,000 workers and is the nation's top beef producer. Tyson Foods is based in Springdale, Ark., employs 68,000 and is the nation's top chicken producer.
