NANTUCKET, Mass. _ All day, Ming Lee Prospero and Michael Amaral carry out their unusual rescue mission by ripping clods of turf from a hillside in one of New England's most scenic places.
In the distance, the red-and-white stripes of the Sankaty Lighthouse and the weathered shingles of the exclusive Nantucket Golf Club complex float above the turf and scrub oaks.
But Prospero and Amaral rarely look up. They lean over each newly dug hole and drop in a bloody, brown body of a young quail.
Then they pop the lids of small, plastic food containers, pluck out two big beetles and drop them onto each quail.
