NEW YORK -- The beauty industry has begun responding to a crying need for makeup designed for wearers of contact lenses.
Once a neglected niche of the market, the 14 million American women who wear contacts are now the target audience for new lines from several companies.
Although some firms have makeup lines for people with "sensitive eyes" -- including those who wear lenses -- the products were created primarily for contact wearers. These products aim to eliminate the irritation caused when makeup gets into the eye of a lens wearer.
