DONALD DEWAR left an astonishing [pound]2 million legacy in a will he signed just days before doctors disclosed he was suffering from a serious heart condition, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.
The legal document, which gives a remarkable insight into the personal business dealings of Scotland's late First Minister, details how Mr Dewar amassed a huge fortune in property, valuable paintings and rare books.
Also, in a move which belies his staunchly traditional Labour values, he bought stocks and shares in more than 50 companies - some of which had been privatised - amounting to nearly [pound]1 million.
