The leadoff spot has been a revolving door for the Twins this season. On Saturday against Detroit, it stopped at right fielder Matt Lawton - and for good reason.
Lawton, who batted leadoff for the seventh time this season, was 11-for-24 with two home runs and seven RBI in his six previous games batting first.
As the team's most versatile and experienced hitter, Lawton has been used at several other spots in the lineup, mostly in the No. 3 spot. He had two hits and a run batting cleanup Friday. But he has thrived in the leadoff spot - at least before his 0-for-4 performance Saturday.
