German legislation to fight criminal waste firms.

The German Parliament has passed legislation that requires mandatory immission control licences for all types of waste management facilities, including those designed to operate for less than 12 months. The new law, initiated by the State of Brandenburg, also enables licensing authorities in Germany to require a financial bond from any operator of a waste facility in order to ensure adequate decommissioning.
