Court rejects chemical industry plea to exclude environmentalist.

The US District Court for Washington DC has dismissed the case brought by the chemical industry challenging the decision of the Government to appoint an environmentalist to a chemical trade advisory committee. The 'green' appointment came as a result of the settlement of a lawsuit filed by health and environmental lobby groups in 2000 regarding the Federal Advisory Committee Act. This Act mandates that US Government advisory committees must represent a fair balance of viewpoints.
