Sometimes, friction is all it takes to spark a fashion career. For footwear designer Edmundo Castillo, that spark came when he was faced with wearing the standard uniform to primary school. The problem: He didn't think the shoes his mother gave him worked with the outfit.
"I had in mind the shoe I wanted to complement my uniform," said the Puerto Rican-born designer. "I couldn't just have one pair; I had to have two or three, which little by little became an obsession."
