Jul. 1--The Bank of England is to become banker to Huntingdon Life Sciences after ministers intervened to ensure the animal-testing company can continue to operate in the UK.
The company has been shunned by City groups because of threats from animal-rights activists.
Sunday Business has learnt that the Department of Trade & Industry has agreed to provide banking facilities to Huntingdon via its own accounts held at the Bank. The Bank of England only offers banking facilities to commercial banks and government departments.
