Kathy Thompson of Brainerd won the 2001 Mrs. Minnesota Pageant on Saturday night at the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul.
Thompson, 38 and a mother of two, is the 25th winner of the pageant. She faced 21 contestants in a preliminary round Friday and during the final competition Saturday.
Thompson's daughter Tara, a teen pageant competitor, had talked her mother into entering her first pageant competition.
"She said, `If I can do it, you can too.' She's definitely my little inspiration," Thompson said.
