"I am not just a bedside clinician, gathering data to report to your doctor," Dale Larkin, an outpatient surgery nurse at the UW Hospital and Clinics, told the Legislature's joint committee on audit June 28.
"I am a social worker, a therapist, a dietitian. I encourage you when you feel you do not have the strength. I comfort your family in times of stress.
"I will be your best advocate when you no longer can. I will teach you everything you need to know about your care. I will celebrate your birthday with you when you have no family," Larkin said.
