Foot-propelled scooters are all the rage. These scooters first went on the market in the United States last year, debuting long before in Europe, Hong Kong, and Israel. In 1999 the sales of scooters in the U.S. were virtually zero; the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) forecasts sales to have reached between 2-5 million in the year 2000 (CPSC, 2001).
These fashionable and "in-thing" items are made of light-weight metal such as aluminum and typically weigh less than 10 pounds.
