This is the story of the development of MUMS, a national Parent-to-Parent organization for parents or care providers of a child with any disability, rare disorder, chromosomal abnormality, or health condition. It is also the story of my life. As is often the case, life with a handicapped child opens new directions in a mother's life. My life took unexpected turns and led to the creation of an international organization to guide other parents faced with the unanticipated trajectory of parenting a child with special needs.
