CHESAPEAKE -- CHESAPEAKE - Though its companion steamship line has yet to announce its intentions for Hampton Roads, Maersk Logistics has opened a new, $20 million warehouse complex in Chesapeake's Gateway Commerce Park.
The 225,000-square-foot-warehouse complex - about one-fourth the size of the MacArthur Center mall - will eventually employ 197 people, said Donald Z. Goldberg, director of Chesapeake Department of Economic Development.
Construction on the 45-acre Chesapeake complex, which is operated by Maersk Logistics subsidiary Hudd Distribution Services, began in November. Hudd received $200,000 ...
