NEW DELHI - The military regime in Islamabad appears to have won round one in the ongoing shadowboxing between India and Pakistan a week ahead of their historic summit, analysts say.
Since Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee invited Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf to India for talks between July 14 and 16, Islamabad appears to be on stronger ground in presummit parleys between the pair, analysts pointed out.
On Friday Islamabad made a surprise attack on New Delhi, saying India continued to sponsor repression, including human rights violations, in its part of divided Kashmir, where an Islamic insurgency has left more than 35,000 dead since 1989.
