J. Keith Moyer, publisher of the Fresno, Calif., Bee, was named the Star Tribune's new publisher Friday.

Moyer's promotion is effective immediately. He replaces interim publisher Robert Weil, vice president of operations for McClatchy Co., the Sacramento, Calif.-based parent of both the Star Tribune and the Bee.

Weil took the post after the abrupt resignation May 23 of John Schueler, who had been the Star Tribune's publisher for three years.
