eMachines on Tuesday announced plans to go after the small business market with a $799 PC powered by a 1GHz Pentium III and Windows 2000 it will release some time next quarter.
Whether eMachines will actually deliver remains to be seen. It unveiled Win2K plans in December, but there's been nary hide nor hair of the systems it promised back then. They were supposed to hit market last month, but in the 4Q00 collapse of the PC market nobody even noticed whether or not they arrived. Perhaps nobody even cared, which doesn't bode well for eMachines' chances of making more than a tiny dent in the business market.
