Turns out Ben Collins, the newly elected Debian project leader, is actually an LDAP directory services engineer at Winstar, and doesn't work at the NASA Langley Research Center anymore as reported last week.
The original information came from a so-called "election platform" on the Debian site that Collins wrote and last revised in November 2000. There was no indication on the site that it was really his 1999 election platform. Collins says he thought the old platform's e-mail header would show ...
