Dell said Monday that it will terminate another 3,000-4,000 jobs in the next two quarters, confirming what sources predicted a few weeks ago (CSN No 398, 399).
Dell's spokesman called the company's efforts to save money, which include unit consolidation, a "fundamental restructuring."
The company intends to take a pre-tax charge of $250 million-$350 million this quarter to cover the layoffs.
Dell has already fired 1,700 full-timers - and some uncounted part- timers and consultants - and taken a charge of $105 million to cover both the redudancies and facility consolidation.
