VA Linux Systems, whose dot.com business model evaporated in the midst of a massive slowdown, reported anemic revenues of $20.3 million for its third fiscal quarter ended April 28. Luckily, the figure came in at the high end of the dire results VA predicted right before the quarter closed.

The number is $14 million off VA's performance a year ago. Sequentially it looks worse by 52%. Q2 revenue totaled $42.5 million, which was down 24% from Q1.

Pro forma net losses, which exclude non-cash and non-recurring charges, amounted to 38 cents a share, a penny shy of the 39 cents- 41 cents VA thought it was going to be and two cents better than First Call ...
