Jul. 10--Delta Air Lines is cutting its flight capacity systemwide to deal with the U.S. economic downturn, but Utah air travelers will benefit -- at least temporarily -- as the carrier plays a game of musical chairs with its planes.

The Atlanta-based air carrier, which operates a hub at Salt Lake City International Airport, on Monday said it will launch its first-ever nonstop flight from Salt Lake City to Honolulu, Hawaii, beginning Sept. 1.

It also plans to add a third daily flight between Utah's capital city and Washington-Dulles airport in its fall schedule.
