NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 11, 2001
In a landmark decision today, the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York ruled in favor of e-publisher RosettaBooks against plaintiff Random House, Inc.
In doing so, the court has upheld the e-publisher's right to negotiate electronic publishing deals with the legal holders of these copyrights, the authors themselves.
In his decision, Judge Sidney H. Stein stated, "Relying on the language of the contracts and basic principles of contract interpretation, this Court finds that the right to 'print, publish and sell the works(s) in book form' in the ...
