The construction "mess" that clogged traffic along Winfield Road for weeks was cleaned up Tuesday - just in time for an even bigger roadwork project to begin blocks away.
Motorists in the heavily trafficked area around Wheaton and Winfield will now have just a couple-week break before County Farm Road is shut down for a month at the railroad crossing just north of the DuPage County government campus.
The crossing is scheduled to be closed from Aug. 1 to Aug. 29 as part of the construction of a $14-million railroad underpass.
