Recently compiled statistics on sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV, AIDS and also chlamydia, suggest Lake County has its work cut out for it, one of the county's top health officials said Tuesday.
Armed with the statistics, William Mays, the county health department's director of community health services, told the Lake County Board the county may fall short of federal objectives on slowing the spread of HIV and AIDS, and that the county has one of the state's highest rates of chlamydia infection.
