COMPAQ COMPUTER CORPORATION ANNOUNCES PURCHASE

OF WANG LABORATORIES FACILITY IN STIRLING, SCOTLAND

HOUSTON, Sept. 14, 1989 -- Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) today announced it has purchased the former Wang Laboratories (AMEX: WAN) manufacturing facility in Stirling, Scotland.

Compaq will use the facility as the base for its expanding service and repair operations. The facility, which will be operational by the end of the year, will immediately create 125 jobs involving a variety of skills required to provide service, spare parts and repair operations.
