Airborne Express yesterday formed an alliance to provide discounted shipping services through 1,100 Sir Speedy Inc. and PIP Printing centers to attract more small- to midsize-business customers.
Sir Speedy and PIP, both units of closely held Franchise Services Inc., will link their Internet sites to improve customer access to the services of Airborne's express-shipping unit.
Airborne is trying to develop a ground-delivery service in an effort to slow the loss of business to larger rivals United Parcel Service Inc. and FedEx Corp.
