Veteran bluesman John Lee Hooker, whose foot stompin' and gravelly voice electrified audiences and inspired several generations of musicians, died at home in his sleep in Los Altos, CA. He was 83.

During his more than six-decade-long career, he recorded more than 100 albums. One album, Chill Out, was recorded to celebrate his 75th birthday.

Some of his hit songs include Boogie Chillen, Boom Boom, Dimples, I'm in the Mood, Hobo Blues, Crawling Kingsnake and I Like to See You Walk.
