Jul. 15--GARDEN GROVE, Calif.--The slumping economy has hit the church collection plate at the $50 million Crystal Cathedral ministry, forcing a downsizing of the staff by about 6 percent, church officials said Saturday.
About 37 positions have been eliminated or frozen because contributions to the Garden Grove church and worldwide "Hour of Power" have declined as donors have been hit in the pocketbook by the financial downturn here and abroad.
Among those laid off in recent days have been a children's minister, a special assistant to Crystal Cathedral ...
