HUMAN GENOME Sciences Inc. (HGS) took another step last week in its plans to become a fully integrated pharmaceutical company with a focus on therapeutic proteins and antibody drugs following the expiration of the exclusive aspects of its human gene therapeutic consortium
Beginning July 1, HGS will be free to use its technology under the consortium contract for itself or future partnerships. HGS inaugurated the genomics revolution in 1993 when it signed the consortium agreement with then SmithKline Beecham (now GlaxoSmithKline).
