Parmalt had quit the instant coffee market in Brazil. There months ago the Companhia Iguacu based on Parana state stop producing for the Italian company. The company aims to concentrate in other areas. Parmalat and Melitta started in the instant coffee market in 1997, both through Companhia Iguacu. In 1998 both companies had 2,5% market share and in 2000 Melitta reached 4,8% stake and Parmalat dropped to 2,1%. The leading Nestle kept the 70% stake with Nescafe Tradicao and Matinal.
