A new study released in the journal Atherosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology: Journal of the American Heart Association found that trans fat, the fat primarily found in hydrogenated vegetable oils used for frying and food preparation, is more detrimental to the heart than saturated fat. The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends reducing trans fat and saturated fat intake, and one way to do that is by substituting with sources of unsaturated fat such as almonds.
Researchers compared the effect of a trans fat diet with a saturated fat diet on the HDL or "good" cholesterol and LDL or "bad" cholesterol. The ...
