Jul. 19--TAMPA, Fla.--With a visit from the U.S. Olympic Committee two weeks away, Florida 2012's plans to bring the Games to the Bay area received a key endorsement Wednesday.
The Tampa Housing Authority unanimously approved an agreement under which the aging North Boulevard Homes and Mary Bethune High Rise apartments in West Tampa would be replaced with a 150-acre Olympic Village of apartments and shops.
A mix of public housing and regular tenants would reside there but would have to vacate for a five- month period around the Games, when the complex would be turned over ...
