Since they first started mapping out Naperville's third library more than a year ago, library officials have said they wanted to build a facility that would be on the cutting edge.
They've said they want a south-side library that will stand out technologically while at the same time making patrons feel right at home.
Library leaders moved in a direction Wednesday they believe will help to fulfill that vision.
The library board authorized architects Phillips Swager Associates to pursue using terra cotta panels on the exterior of the building.
