WICHITA FALLS, Texas _ Folks here realize the city's claim to fame may be fleeting.
Sure there are the jokes about the stifling heat, and the waterfall that now needs a pump to operate.
But, more important these days, is the competition Wichita Falls knows it has as the Dallas Cowboys' summer home. With the team's camp arrangements on a year-to-year basis, there are no written promises about what will happen next.
"It's just too hot for `em," said Midwestern State University assistant football coach Keith Degreat as he stood in 107-degree heat on a field his players call, "the only patch of green grass in town."
