We managed to get a few interrupted minutes with New Mexico's attorney general Patricia Madrid and she claims the initiative for New Mexico to settle its antitrust claims against Microsoft came from her, not Microsoft.
We were curious because Microsoft's people refused to discuss the subject of who approached who when the surprise news broke that New Mexico had cut a deal with Microsoft and bailed out of the antitrust suit. Microsoft claimed to be under NDA.
