Article: New Center on Birth Defects and Disabilities Launched.(Brief Article)

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has established a new center to focus on birth defects and disabilities, according to an April 16, 2001, news release from the organization. The new center's name is the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities (NCBDDD), and it was created by the Children's Health Act of 2000. The purpose of the center is to improve the health of both children and adults. Some of the staff members, programs, and activities that formerly were part of CDC's National Center for Environmental Health will be incorporated into the NCBDDD.
