Jul. 24--At a time of high-profile technology layoffs and dot-com collapses, the Massachusetts job-creating engine continues to hum.
Key sectors of the state's economy gained jobs last month, suggesting the area is holding steady amid the economic downtown, says a report released yesterday by the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce.
In its first "Leading Industries Index" report, the chamber said more than 15,000 jobs were added in financial services, health care, high technology, higher education, and tourism between June 2000 and June 2001. The report said employment ...
