DAVID COFFIELD recalls when he was a young naval officer traveling the world. He also recalls the freedom and control he felt when he learned to sail years ago from a friend in New England. But most of all he remembers Feb. 22, 1985.
That's the day of the motorcycle crash - an accident that changed his life forever and could have ended his sailing days.
Coffield, 54, was 38 years old and stationed in Italy. He liked to ride his motorcycle and would take long trips on it, sometimes as far as 5,000 miles.
