RED CROSS CONCENTRATES ON RELIEF TO HURRICANE VICTIMS

DETROIT, Sept. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Red Cross said today that it continues to concentrate its response to Hurricane Hugo on meeting the immediate emergency needs of victims of the storm.

The severe damage to communication systems in the islands prohibits the handling of any inquiries from local residents as to the safety of residents of the hurricane stricken areas. It is expected to be at least several days before such inquiries can be accepted.
