Jul. 25--GlaxoSmithKline P.L.C., the British drug-maker with U.S. headquarters in Center City, yesterday reported second-quarter profit rose 13 percent, before charges, and announced two new drug-development deals.
Jean-Pierre Garnier, the company's chief executive, said the April launch in the U.S. of a new asthma product topped company expectations and he is optimistic about the introduction of a new version of its Augmentin antibiotic that will hit the market later this year.
