BRINGING BEDWETTING OUT OF THE DARK
Enuresis refers to bed-wetting occurring at least several times per month in children at least 5 to 6 years old. There is a wide variation in the age at which nighttime urinary continence is achieved, thus, normal preschool-age children who wet the bed are not viewed as having enuresis but rather considered to have developmentally-appropriate night wetting.
The causes of enuresis are as varied as the treatment, but controlled studies have shown that on the average, enuretic children fall within the normal range of standardized measures of psychological adjustment. In fact, these children have been described as "quite ...
