Richard Prebble, the leader of the New Zealand opposition party ACT, has criticized the country's acquisition of 105 LAV III light armored vehicles from General Motors of Canada [GM], claiming that a draft audit report found that the vehicles will cost more than $3.2 million each and are being bought in too large numbers.
"The LAVs cost almost [$3.2] million each and it seems a bizarre decision to buy them," Prebble said last week in his weekly Letter from Wellington, the capital of New Zealand.
