Staffers at The Beacon Journal are tired.
Tired of worrying. Tired of waiting. Tired of being the center of national attention.
This year, Akron's daily newspaper has suffered its first-ever editorial staff reductions.
The Beacon Journal in February laid off 10 people in the newsroom, two of whom were transferred to other departments within the paper, and it's seeking 14 newsroom employees to take a buyout option this month. Eight other newsroom employees left voluntarily earlier this year when the shakeup began.
