Jul. 26--WASHINGTON--Former Massachusetts state senator Lois G. Pines told a US Senate committee yesterday that she no longer supports price-boosting dairy compacts and is haunted by her 1998 legislative vote in favor of one.
"I was once a supporter of the Northeast Dairy Compact and helped protect it from attacks by ardent opponents in Massachusetts," the Newton Democrat said in testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
