The Mexican government is facing growing unrest in the agriculture sector, a situation that could eventually turn into a full crisis.
Small and large agriculture organizations--representing producers of corn, rice, coffee, sugar, and other commodities- -have held demonstrations and blockades around Mexico to demand greater assistance from President Vicente Fox's administration. Fishing fleets in Sinaloa state also joined in the protests, which erupted in late June and have continued throughout July.
