ABIX via COMTEX) -- Montana Group (NZ) has been the subject of a battle for control in the middle of 2001. The New Zealand wine company had takeover offers from both Allied Domecq in the UK and Lion Nathan in Australasia. Allied Domecq, a liquor company, has a 27% shareholding in the New Zealand company at 25 July 2001. Lion Nathan will have a 43.8% shareholding once it implements a resolution over a dispute about its stake. Lion Nathan stated in the week commencing 23 July 2001 that it will not continue with a takeover offer, which was through its Lion Nathan Enterprises vehicle.
